If you’re running an online business it’s important to use password management software to stay safe. If you’re not sure why you would need software such as LastPass we’re going to look at some reasons why it’s essential. If you’re not using any software at the moment you’ll be signing up sooner than you think.
Social media meltdown
How many times have you heard about companies having their social media accounts hacked? This maybe won’t hurt you too much if you don’t have a large following, but if you’re a successful company with a reputable brand you don’t want anyone to have access to your accounts. They will be able to destroy the reputation of your company with a few tweets and it’s not worth thinking about, but when you use password management software the passwords will be too strong for anyone to break into.
Knowing your secrets
When you’re running a business you’ll be sending out all different types of emails, so can you imagine how much damage it would cause if someone gained access to some of your sensitive information? If a hacker breaks into your email accounts they could easy sell information to your competition, or maybe it could be your competition breaking into your email account in the first place. You always want your private emails to be secure and when you have an unbreakable password you’ll know you’re safe.
It’s impossible to write certain things down on paper because you might lose everything, so writing everything down inside a secure note in your passport management software is very beneficial. This could include things like your online banking information and your credit card numbers, so it’s something you don’t want to carry around in your pocket on paper. Once all your important info is locked away behind a closed wall you will know it’s always there when you need it.
Losing your domain name
Some might say this is the scariest scenario of them all as you’ll always have backups of your website, but if someone can get into your domain registrar account they’ll be able to steal your domain name. Will you be able to get it back? Yeah, you might be able to get it back but it will take time and money, so don’t put yourself in that position in the first place. If nobody can gain access to your domain registrar your business will always be safe and you’ll never lose control of your domain name.
Losing out on money
If a smart hacker breaks into one of your main websites they won’t just bring down the site or stick up a large sign on your homepage saying you’ve been hacked. They would realize you’re using an online storage account and you could easily throw up a clean version of your site within a few hours. Instead they will probably change a few affiliate links so they start earning money every month and if they don’t go crazy changing all your links there is a good chance you won’t realize what is happening.
